abstract
in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low differences between populations. the populations had overlaps and did not form independent phenetic groups.

Echolocation and passive listening by foraging mouse-eared bats Myotis myotis and M. blythii.
The two sibling mouse-eared bats, Myotis myotis and M. blythii, cope with similar orientation tasks, but separate their trophic niche by hunting in species-specific foraging microhabitats. Previous work has shown that both species rely largely on passive listening to detect and glean prey from substrates, and studies on other bat species have suggested that echolocation is ;switched off' during...
full textNew Lyssavirus Genotype from the Lesser Mouse-eared Bat (Myotis blythi), Kyrghyzstan
The Aravan virus was isolated from a Lesser Mouse-eared Bat (Myotis blythi) in the Osh region of Kyrghyzstan, central Asia, in 1991. We determined the complete sequence of the nucleoprotein (N) gene and compared it with those of 26 representative lyssaviruses obtained from databases. The Aravan virus was distinguished from seven distinct genotypes on the basis of nucleotide and amino acid ident...
full textKeen's Long-eared Bat, Myotis keenii, Confirmed in Southeast Alaska
Myotis keenii is apparently restricted to the Pacific coastal forests of northwestern North America. The only documentation of M. keenii in Alaska has been a specimen collected in 1887, causing uncertainty about whether this species normally occurs there. We describe two new records which indicate that M. keenii may be a regular member of the Southeast Alaska fauna and we provide measurements a...
full textThe phylogeography of Myotis bat-associated rabies viruses across Canada
As rabies in carnivores is increasingly controlled throughout much of the Americas, bats are emerging as a significant source of rabies virus infection of humans and domestic animals. Knowledge of the bat species that maintain rabies is a crucial first step in reducing this public health problem. In North America, several bat species are known to be rabies virus reservoirs but the role of bats ...
full textA new big-footed mouse-eared bat Myotis annamiticus sp. nov. (Vespertilionidae, Chiroptera) from Vietnam
— A very small of species Myotis in the Myotis daubentoni group was found in a valley of the foothills of the Annamit Mountains, Quan Binh Province, Vietnam. Thirteen specimens of this bat were compared with other Eurasian big-footed bats. Analysis of external and skull morphology indicate this Vietnamese form should be described as a new species. Compared to other species of Myotis the new tax...
